Odisha registered their first win in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy East Zone U-19 One-Day Limited-overs Tournament, defeating Affiliate & Associate Team by six wickets in their fourth and penultimate league match at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Dhanbad (Jharkhand) today.
Chasing a competitive target of 181, Odisha rode on a half-century each by captain Swastik Samal and opener Kunal Mallick to ropm home with 4.1 overs to spare. Samal hit a 91-ball 63 with the help of four fours and one six, while Mallick’s made 50 off 105 balls, hitting five boundaries in the process.
Earlier put into bat, the Affiliate & Associate Team were bowled out for 180 in 49.4 overs. Rex RK was their top scorer with an unbeaten 60. Satyakam Bharadwaj and Krishna Palai took three wickets each for Odisha, who would play their last league match against Assam tomorrow.
